Hello and welcome to our virtual garden shop, helping to meet the needs of the modern grower. We’re so happy you’re here! 

Sometimes, online shopping can be tricky especially when you’re not all too familiar with what kind of place you’re buying from. We want to be as real and transparent with our online shoppers as we are with our in-store customers. And what better way to start than with a little introduction!

First, a bit of background. Cleatus Farms was founded in 1992 when two childhood friends had a vision to serve the lawn and garden needs of the local neighborhoods. What first began as a small pumpkin stand on the front lawn turned into a full-fledged business, catering to homeowners and landscapers in the area. Since then, our company has grown into a business with its own farms of over 39 acres and growing distribution that serves the lawn and garden needs of our retail and wholesale trades.

Cleatus Farms is a family-owned plant nursery, garden center, and hydroponic one-stop-shop located in northern New Jersey. Today, our small business has expanded to reach customers across the United States.

Cf Hydroponics here is basically the baby of the Cleatus Farms family. 

What it comes down to is this: we love to grow, we love finding new, unique ways to do it and we love to share what we know. Hydroponics is an evolving art of growing. It is the future of gardening and it’s already here.

We’ve now been in the gardening business for over 30 years, hydroponics included. We use hydroponics for the propagation of nursery stock (cloning) at our farm’s growing facility and in-store. We also have greenhouses for the production of leafy greens, herbs, microgreens, and so much more! 

Over the years, we have tried different techniques for growing including various products, nutrients, systems, plant varieties, etc. We know what works and what doesn’t. And we’re here to share our knowledge with you.

Our reason for sharing this is simple. We want our customers to know that we aren’t just trying to sell you something. We are both the retailer and the user and we know how overwhelming this subject can seem at times. We are passionate about what we do and we are here to help in any way we can. That is a promise.

Our passion has led us to become the experts in the room. When industry needs advice, we’re their source. Our resume in hydroponics reads like a “who’s who.” When NBC’s Today Show wanted to build a system for fresh produce n in their kitchen, we stepped up for the job. It was all about form and function and ease of use. When L’Oreal Corporate envisioned turning their bistro into a garden, we delivered. When a classroom in Albany, New York wanted to teach hydro growing in their classrooms, we came through. 

Over time, we’ll continue to update this segment of the site to give you more information about products, different ways of growing, tutorials and more! But for now, feel free to browse our current product line and stay tuned for the next post.
